Old Southendian Reserves 3-1 Shoebury Town
Old Southendian Reserves returned to Essex Olympian League Division Two winning ways as they came from behind to see off a determined Shoebury Town side at Garon Park.
Frustrating results against struggling Hutton and Rochford Town had all but ended any outside promotion hopes. However, the Old Boys rediscovered their form during a particularly entertaining second half.
Town took the lead shortly after the restart. But the home side hit back with Jack Cripps bagging a brace and Harry Dacosta also on target.
“It was just about making sure we kept playing our football.” boss, Rob Johnson told Yellow Sport.
“We needed to get back to winning ways for us after two disappointing results and performances. We were slow out of the blocks but once we got a foothold in the game, were the better side.
Johnson added: “The cat was amongst the pigeons when a mistake at the back cost us a goal. But we responded well to score three goals and probably could have had a couple more. Attitude and commitment was spot-on. Our quality showed in the end.”
